The government hospitals are providing the Covid vaccine for free, while the private hospitals charge some amount. In India, currently there are two vaccines being administered, including Covaxin and covishield. The covaxin is developed by Hyderabad based bharat biotech. Whereas, Covishield is developed by the Oxford-AstraXeneca and is manufactured by the Serum institute of India.

Talking about Sputnik V, it was developed in Russia and is being imported and sold in India. This vaccine is approved, but not yet administered. You might find this boring and might think what is the need of knowing the names. Well, it is very much important to get a better insight about the vaccine, so as to avoid any complications later on.

Guide to register for COVID vaccine

Using the CoWIN portal and Aarogya Setu app, one can get themselves registered, here is how:

Through CoWIN portal:

  • On your Chrome browser or any browser, search for CoWIN website
  • Click on Register/Sign in option. Get yourself registered by filling required details
  • Add your mobile number and click on Get OTP. Type the digits you received and click on verify
  • You will have to enter the details
    • Photo ID proof
    • Name
    • Gender
    • Year of birth
  • After entering the details, click on Register tab
  • You will get an option to schedule an appointment. Where you have to click on schedule
  • Add the pin code and click on search. The centers will appear
  • You just need to select the date and time and click on confirm

You can add up to 4 members through one login and also reschedule the appointment.

Using Aarogya Setu App

  • You would have to download the Aarogya setu app, if you haven’t already. There you will see the CoWIN tab on the home screen itself
  • Choose the vaccination registration option and enter in your mobile number. Proceed to verify, after receiving an OTP.
  • Enter the details on the register for vaccination page:
    • Photo ID proof
    • Name
    • Gender
    • Year of birth
  • Click on Register tab
  • You will get an option to schedule an appointment and click on schedule
  • Add your pin code and click on search. You will the nearest centers
  • Select the date and time and click on confirm

Important documents for registration of vaccine

In order to avoid any hassle later on, you will require any of the below mentioned ID with photo at the time of registration:

  • Aadhaar card
  • Driving license
  • Health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of Ministry of labour
  • Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act Job card
  • PAN card
  • Official Identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs
  • Passport
  • Pension document
  • Passbook
  • Service identity card issued to employees by gov companies
  • Voter ID

Don’t get confused, you don’t need all the above documents. You can use any of the one for your ID proof during the registration process.
